Born in Cologne Germany, Guido Maibaum grew up in South Africa where he started a successful musical career as a bass player in the early 1980’s, touring with various artists and bands . In 1987 Guido joined a band called HOTLINE featuring P.J.Powers. Hotline enjoyed tremendous success and were accredited with numerous gold records. Their no.1 hit Jabulani from the album of the same name is being used as a theme song to represent South Africa in the 2010 football world cup hosted by South Africa.
Guido moved down to Durban on the East Coast of South Africa in 1992, to create a popular duo . 1996 saw the start of Guido’s amazing solo career. Covering music from Sinatra to Latin American , pop, rock and reggae Guido was soon established as leading entertainer on the pub, corporate and restaurant circuit.
In 1998 Guido was invited to play in Wengen Switzerland on a 3 month contract ....and due to public demand and a loyal fan base, Guido spent a further 9 years entertaining in Zuerich, Luzern, St.Gallen, Bern and in many ski resorts that Switzerland has to offer. At the same time Guido was often invited to Guernsey in the Channel Islands, to play at numerous events in top venues such as 'The Doghouse' & 'Christies'
Guido moved to the UK in 2007 and has made Northamptonshire his base & is still being invited to Switzerland occasionally to perform at corporate functions. Guido is fast becoming established as an outstanding entertainer who’s ability to read his audience and flexiblly tailor each events‘ entertainment has resulted in many rebookings, time after time.
